The fortified city of Carcassonne, located in southern France, is one of the most beautifully preserved medieval citadels in Europe. Its high stone walls, conical towers, and winding walkways make it feel like something straight out of a storybook. This collection captures the essence of the old city, from the quiet charm of its cobblestone streets to the commanding presence of its towers overlooking the Aude River.
My goal with this Carcassonne castle photography series was to show how light and weather transform the textures of the ancient stone. Carcassonne’s walls still carry the history and atmosphere of centuries past and was a real pleasure to visit!
